| Shillong Emerges as Top Travel Destination for Indians in 2025, Reveals Skyscanner's Trend Report |
Skyscanner has unveiled its Travel Trends Report 2025, where Shillong in Meghalaya tops the list of most anticipated destination Indians would like to visit in the next year. This scenic hill station often called 'Scotland of the East' has come atop ahead of international popular destinations such as Baku in Azerbaijan and Langkawi in Malaysia. Shillong emerges as the sole Indian city in a list of destinations to visit in 2025. According to the report, based on the feedback garnered from 1,000 Indian respondents, it was revealed that 66 percent of Indian travelers intend to travel more in 2025. The list apart, besides Shillong, there are new hotspots such as Tromso in Norway, Tashkent in Uzbekistan, and al-Ula in Saudi Arabia that have started to attract Indian travelers.
Skyscanner travel expert Mohit Joshi referred to a new trend toward 'meaningful experiences' in traveling, as 86% of travelers were willing to keep and increase their budgets for flights and 80% for accommodation in 2025. According to him, Indian travelers prioritize unique, collective experiences while keeping an eye on effective spending.
